Falcons Fall in Semi-Final Game 77-62

Ok, so our Palestra experience this season wasn’t as pleasurable as last year, but we had a great time getting there. But, not to worry, as the Falcons’ season is not yet over. With our membership in the PIAA, the season will go on into March. On Wednesday, February 25 (which happens to be my birthday), the Falcons will travel to South Philly to take on John Bartram, the Pub AAAA runner up in a District Consolation game to decide the #3 and #4 seeds. Roman and FLC will play to decide the top two spots. Our game will be played at 8:00pm at Southern HS (Broad & Snyder Sts).

Did You notice……

….Taylor Rand, our regular National Anthem singer, sang at the Palestra before the game?…..that Taylor used a microphone for the first time this season. Not that she really needed it.…..that North was the visiting team against Neumann-Goretti, as opposed to the home team in both games last year

.…..that Bishop McFadden, the Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia said the pre-game prayer. He must have some pull, as he got a front-row seat right at mid-court. It’s not only good to be king, but sometimes it good to be Bishop

.…..that the concession stand takes your cap when you buy a soda or water. I guess they’re afraid people will chuck them onto the court during the game
.…..that after the game, the Roman fans and team came out. The mascot for Roman (they used to be the Trojans) has to be the most ridiculous mascot I’ve ever seen. It’s like a cartoon character.

Faces in the Crowd….

.…..Sitting in some good seats were State Representative, John Taylor, who was seated with John Hagan and Mike Kaiser. Behind them was Tim Murphy

.…..Next to Tim Murphy were NC Alumni President, Ed White ’55 and Mike Fagan ‘57

…..Sitting in the cheap seats was fellow blogger, Tom Crossett, sporting his brand new soccer championship hoodie

.…..Hanging out with some of the North Catholic administrator was Coach John “Cutty” Cutsavage, who happened to be my line coach sophomore year at North (a long time ago).…..Sitting way up high was former football player and member of the 2008 championship basketball team, Pete Sellecchia

.…..One of our staffers caught Ed Glackin in the crowd

.…..Advisory Board member, North Catholic supporter and all around good guy, Mike McBride ’81, was hanging out in the lower level, catching the game

.…..Two former All Catholic football players were sitting together. Brian Smith ’82 and Mike Morrin ’75

Drew Colfer back where he belongs……
Last week, we reported that Drew Colfer missed the Bonner game because of a scheduled Flyers game (this kid gets around). More than a few people missed Drew last week, but not to worry. Shooting some hoops before the game was Drew in his usual #12 NC jersey. Drew was an invited guest of the team and got some great seating courtside. It was good to see the little guy back form during his shoot around.
We'll be looking for Drew at the game on Wednesday. We sure hope he can make it to the game.
